WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I have something TANGIBLE in my hand at this very moment. (well, not at this VERY moment b/c then i wouldn't be able to type, but you get the idea) This wedding is ON! I have the invitations. That's right, people of the world. The invites are about to go OUT! They look great. They're simple, yes. And there is a small error. But no one will even notice! (Don't worry Mom, it's not a spelling error!) So, that's some good news.

Also on the board, engagement pictures begin at 6:30 eastern standard time tonight. That's right folks, another concrete element coming into place! (As if the ring and the lease we signed weren't enough . . . ) So, tonight we'll be looking pretty (well, Joel will do his best . . . ) and posing in our cutesy wootsy ways and take some awesome pictures!

Alright, that's all for now. Sorry to not have updated, but honestly, who wants to hear about catering plans? Ok, well maybe you do. But for now . . . that's the update!

New details and more to get done.

Liz and I have been doing little things the past few days. We met with the pastor to go over the events and planning of the ceremony. We also have met with a caterer, to figure out options for food. We have pretty much decided on Meijer Gardens for the reception, we just have to get a deposit in. We have a meeting on Monday april 11 so that we can meet with a florist. So far some things are done but there is much to do. It is stressful but things seem to be falling into place.

registered

Man oh man. Registering is a BIG JOB.

Yesterday Joel and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to start a registry. Basically I envisioned walking in, grabbing a pricing gun and then walking up and down aisles to scan things. Boy was I wrong. They sit you down, explain the whle process and then guide you through what stuff you should get in what order. Do you know they tell you to schedule TWO HOURS to register? Well, after 2 hours Joel and I had only done the kitchen gadgets and pans. We stayed in the store until 10pm!

But it was kind of a fun experience. It's bizarre that people will be buying us these things. Or not. Not like I'm pushing for gifts, it's just kind of cool . . .

So anyway, we have to go back - and probably a few more times. We're not exactly quick with the decision making.

We were actually planning on going to Target to register last night too. Ha ha. How little we know . . .

that's the one

So, because I am partway evil, I think, we have decided to get another engagement ring. The other one was a little too big for me both in size and in gradeur. We had a little talk about it and decided to go into see the jeweller.

So, today at 1 we met with jeweller George. We walked in, and I saw the one I loved. It is similar to the other ring in that the bezel is only halfway surrounding the diamond and is set lower toward the ring. it won't catch on stuff. So, it's a very simple elegant ring. It's really beautiful. And there is a bigger diamond . . .

The downside is that I won't even get it for another two to three weeks! arg! not fair at all! But, it is still something to look forward to. I'll just get a proxy ring to fill in in the meantime. I'm thinking a really big and gaudy cubic zirconia . . .

Joel is (understandably) a little distressed that we are having to change it. But he's been really great about everything. And jeweller George was great too - helping us out a great deal.

So, that is one thing down. Only a few more to go?

first things first

Whew.

What a day.

Engagement on Friday.

We had a weekend to relax, maybe read through some "wedding literature," and now we are right into the thick of things. I mean, we have about 17 or 18 weeks.

Well, I for one am pretty impressed with what we have ALREADY done. I mean, we've got the church and pastor lined up. We have probably about a 50% chance of getting the reception hall that we want, and we have started thinking about other vendors that we will need to contact.

A sticky part though will be the guest list. Church people, family, friends, and co-workers. Yikes. I want everyone to be there. I've got to check up on some etiquette things though.

But we're off to a good start I think.

Keep checking back here for exciting wedding updates!!

welcome one and all!!

Here will come the planning steps, crazy moments, and funny stories associated with planning our wedding. Hope y'all enjoy!
